Global Warming DVDs available
Carol McKinley has two DVDs on global warming sent by Interfaith Power and Light, a nonprofit organization committed to showing the relationship between ecology and faith.  The Rev. Sally Bingham, an Episcopal priest, is the founder and executive director of Interfaith Power and Light; she believes faith communities must take the lead in focusing attention on global warming as a faith issues, emphasizing that stewardship and protection of the environment is a primary mission of all religious faiths.

The following DVDs are available to faith communities, and would be appropriate for a social justice discussion group or youth group:

   >>   "Too Hot Not to Handle" is an HBO documentary featuring scientists (with lots of graphics) speaking on the effects of climate change on the United States .  Segments include:
Length: 25 minutes

   >> "Lighten Up!" is narrated by the Rev. Sally Bingham, the founder of Interfaith Power and Light, who talks about the scriptural covenant between God and humanity as the imperative to care for the Earth.  She gives specific suggestions for ways faith communities -- and individuals -- can lessen the impact of global warming and other environmental degradation.  Length: 20 minutes

Either DVD would be appropriate for a social justice discussion group or a youth group.

Please join in viewing & discussing "The Global Brain" (video) at Traditions Café (300 – 5th Ave SW, Olympia). This event is co-sponsored by IW's Earth Stewardship Committee and Earth Care Catholics of Olympia.

"The Global Brain": This moving video presentation explores the idea that the Earth is an integrated, self-regulating, living organism and asks what function humanity might have for this planetary being. It suggests that we stand on the threshold of a major leap in evolution, as significant as the emergence of life itself, and that the essence of this leap is inner spiritual evolution. Moreover, Peter Russell maintains that it is only through such a shift in consciousness that we will be able to manage successfully the global crisis now facing us.
