Basic column guidelines:
1.The writer determines the subject of the column. Subjects can relate to faith issues, interfaith activities, the importance of a religious celebration within your faith community, timely issues such as health care reform, welfare reform, economic development and renewal, youth violence and the like. Topics should be of interest to persons outside the writer's own faith community. This is not a forum to preach doctrine, nor to proselytize.  Columns will not be published if they are related to a ballot or election issue within three months of an election, or they criticize another religion or its position on a given issue.
2.Articles should be 600 words or less. The Olympian reserves the right to edit or reject any submission.
3.Articles are due to The Olympian on Friday, a week before the Saturday on which it is to be published.
Each contributor must sign a freelance form from The Olympian.  The Olympian would also like a current picture of you to accompany your column.
Call The Olympian's Features Editor at 357-0721 if you have any questions about guidelines.  Once Interfaith Works schedules you to write a column, they will send you a letter with your due date that expands on the requirements listed above.

Responses received after January 14 will be scheduled if there are still slots available.  Interfaith Works will send each columnist a letter with the column's due date, details about the submission process, and the complete list of column guidelines.  Call Janice Holz, Interfaith Works Office Manager, at 357-7224 if you have any questions about scheduling.
Guidelines for Perspective Columns
"Perspective" is intended to present a faith perspective on a specific topic. Topics can relate to current events and issues (for example, health care reform, youth violence, economic development), the importance of specific religious celebrations within your faith tradition, interfaith activities, and other spiritual issues.
  > Topics should be of interest to persons outside the writer's own faith community.
  > Articles must not be related to a ballot or election issue within three months of an election.
  > Articles must not criticize another religion or its position on a given issue.
  > This is not a forum to preach doctrine, nor to proselytize.

Articles should be 600 words or less.  Articles longer than 600 words may be shortened because of space limitations.  The Olympian reserves the right to edit or reject submissions.
