Peace and understanding are important gifts of comfort for those who are very ill, or dying.  INTERFAITH WORKS offers classes to teach laypersons how to offer spiritual care and support to those in need.

The curriculum is not "religious" and students work with their faith community leaders to apply the skills taught in a way that is consistent with the traditions of their own congregations.  These classes are also a valuable tool for clergy and other spiritual leaders.

The basic Spiritual Care of the Dying course is seven 90-minute classes  taught by professionals in the fields of hospice care, bereavement counseling, and clinical pastoral care.  Interfaith Works is also developing an advanced course which may be offered in 2007.

The 2005 brochure is available here as a Word document, in case you would like an idea of the content of the basic course.

If you would like to be notified when the next course is scheduled, contact the Interfaith Works office at InterfaithWorks@comcast.net or 357-7224.
