Program Council

Program Council and Member Faith Community Involvement

WHO WE ARE
Interfaith Works is a coalition of faith-based communities and affiliated organizations that work together to serve the community through charitable, social, and educational endeavors. Our two primary areas of focus are Interfaith Relations and Homeless Services, both of which are advised by standing councils.

INTERFAITH RELATIONS
Interfaith Works maintains a tradition of programming that brings our diverse community together, celebrating and honoring religious and spiritual diversity in Thurston County. Interfaith Relations programming seeks to promote and support social justice and peace through deepening interfaith understanding and cooperation.
PROGRAM COUNCIL
The Program Council is the standing council that advises Interfaith Relations, and is made up of volunteer delegates of faith community member organizations and affiliated organizations. The Program Council:
  • Promotes cooperative relationships among diverse faith communities and affiliated organizations
  • Proposes, plans, and carries out the projects, programs, and events of Interfaith Works
  • Acts as a liaison between and among Interfaith Works’ network and the wider community
  • Advises the Board of Directors regarding critical decisions
PROGRAM COUNCIL MEETINGS
Program Council meetings provide the opportunity for delegates to learn about each other and the various faiths that are active in Interfaith Works, to share information, and to conduct the work of planning events, programs and activities. Meetings are held from 7:00-9:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month (except in December, July, and August) at Temple Beth Hatfiloh (downtown Olympia) with an option for attendance via Zoom.

PROGRAM COUNCIL DELEGATE TEAMS
We encourage delegate teams of 1-3 people from member faith communities.

Member faith communities of Interfaith Works are expected to support the purpose of Interfaith Works, make an annual financial contribution to Interfaith Works, and mobilize delegates who attend and contribute to Program Council meetings. Program Council delegates, along with an authorized leader of the faith community or organization they represent, make up a Program Council Delegate Team.
