Reflections on Unity Commons Grand Opening

Safe Place for Recovery
Interfaith Works, MultiCare Capital Medical Center, Providence St. Peter Hospital, and Thurston County Public Health and Social Services are partnering to provide people experiencing homelessness a safe place to fully recover after they are discharged from the hospital, with the goal of reducing readmissions and freeing up much-needed hospital beds, the organizations announced today.

Code Blue
Late Friday afternoon, Thurston County called for a "Code Blue" indicating that freezing temperatures and snow were set to hit the county and they were asking for all hands on deck to open additional shelter options for our unhoused neighbors at highest risk of death in such conditions.

Light of Hope 2014
The Interfaith Works Overnight Emergency shelter opened Nov. 1 with 30 beds and has been full ever since. In fact, the waiting list has reached nearly 200 people, said program director Meg Martin.
