Today, on December 21, 2021, the Winter Solstice and National Homeless Persons Day of Remembrance, was the grand opening of Unity Commons.

Interfaith Works, MultiCare Capital Medical Center, Providence St. Peter Hospital, and Thurston County Public Health and Social Services are partnering to provide people experiencing homelessness a safe place to fully recover after they are discharged from the hospital, with the goal of reducing readmissions and freeing up much-needed hospital beds, the organizations announced today.

OLYMPIA – Funding has been secured for the purchase and development of a half-acre lot on Olympia’s eastern edge that will serve as a temporary homeless shelter and evolve to more broadly serve Thurston County’s unhoused residents.

Providence ends partnership with Interfaith Works at the Community Care Center.

Today, November 1, 2018, marks 4 consecutive years of shelter at the Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter at First Christian Church. 

Late Friday afternoon, Thurston County called for a "Code Blue" indicating that freezing temperatures and snow were set to hit the county and they were asking for all hands on deck to open additional shelter options for our unhoused neighbors at highest risk of death in such conditions.

The Interfaith Works Emergency Shelter team has been operating a Winter Warming Center every day for the past 4 months.

Tonight, I am grateful to see the longest day of winter come and pass--this means that, in some small way, spring is coming and that winter will not last forever.

I can't quite believe it, but as of today, the Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter has been operating for one full year!

Two of our founding members and shelter managers have decided to move on for now, and to them I owe the deepest gratitude. Please join me in thanking them.

The Interfaith Works Overnight Emergency shelter opened Nov. 1 with 30 beds and has been full ever since. In fact, the waiting list has reached nearly 200 people, said program director Meg Martin.

After two years of planning, Olympia’s newest homeless shelter opened its doors for the first time Saturday night.
